I’m thrilled to announce that the second Bouquinistes Auction is now live! The second auction is bigger than the first and includes more items from more bouquinistes in order to try to increase our impact. Your support is making a huge impact in the bouquinistes’ lives and I can’t thank you enough.
The Bouquinistes Auction Format
Like the first auction, the second Bouquinistes Auction is on La Porte Bonheur, my website for French vintage and antique pieces. Each item’s starting bid is the cost of the item, which includes shipping everything as a group to the US to reduce individual shipping prices. If you aren’t located in the US but would like to participate in the auction please send me an email.
100% of the revenues and donations generated from the auctions go directly to the bouquinistes. I buy every item so I recuperate my costs (buying the items, Shopify fees, and shipping). For the first auction I received a generous donation that covered all of my costs, so the bouquinistes received 100% of the proceeds.
The auction will go through next Monday, December 7th. I encourage you to bid early if you see something you’re interested in so you don’t miss out. If someone places a higher bid you’ll get an email notification so you’ll have another chance to bid again.
To bid you just have to create an account – no credit card is required! When the auction ends you’ll receive an email with a notification that you won (or were outbid). At that point, you will pay for your order and choose a shipping method.
USPS Media Mail is the most cost-effective way to ship the books domestically in the US (unfortunately it can’t be used for the watercolors). If you want to guarantee you receive your purchases before Christmas I highly recommend choosing UPS.

One of my favorites from this auction is the hardcover Dans les Rues de Paris au Temps des Fiacres book. Black and white photographs of street life in Paris from 1850 to 1910. Shows Paris before, during, and after Haussmann. Sections include Petits Métiers, Boutiques, Cafés and more.
David Gentleman’s Paris
David Gentleman’s Paris is not only filled with gorgeous watercolors, this book also serves as a guide and study of Paris. Tourists and Parisiens alike will enjoy this book. It covers all parts of Paris and gives a truly accurate portrayal of life in the city. Another one of my favorites from the second Bouquinistes Auction!
Eugène Atget’s Paris
Eugène Atget’s Paris is a gorgeous hardcover book published by Taschen and filled with black and white photos of Paris by documentary photographer Eugène Atget. Many photos include dates they were taken as well as addresses featured.
Atget was determined to document all of the architecture and street scenes of Paris before their disappearance to modernization. Many of his photographs were first published after his death.
Grammaire des Immeubles Parisiens
Grammaire des Immeubles Parisiens covers six centuries of Parisien façades from the Middle Ages until now. Included are the oldest apartments in Paris, distinctive motifs and different styles of buildings, the materials used, all with addresses. This book would be a wonderful gift for someone interested in French architecture or Paris history.
Guide Naïf de Paris
Guide Naïf de Paris (Paris through the eyes of the Modern Primitives) features both art and acts as a guide with maps with different landmarks. Also included are 16 different walking itineraries as well as different facts and figures about Paris. Book is in English and French.
