On January 1st, Romain decided he’d had enough of our Christmas tree. After removing all of the lights he somehow produced a saw and took to the tree, branch by branch. When he was finished he instructed me to go into the courtyard and relay the remains of the tree that he tossed out the window to the trash bin. All I wanted was a quiet New Year’s Day, and what I got was the opposite. That’s pretty much how the entire month of January went. January was also the month that Boomer decided he likes to put his paws on bridges and take in the view, which absolutely melts me. Some of the highlights included a wonderful ski trip to Courchevel, some of my favorite classic French foods at all time favorite Paris restaurants, and a new to me Paris museum that is perfect for interior lovers.
December 2022 Recap
I started a draft of this December 2022 Recap post on January 5th. We were off to go skiing later that day, and I thought I’d finish the post on the train there. Spoiler alert – it’s now January 30th and the post is finally being published. December is an excellent month to visit France so hopefully this recap can serve as a reference point for future travel during the festive period!
November 2022 Recap
November was filled to the brim with lots of fun catch ups with friends, visits to old favorite and new restaurants, and getting into the holiday spirit prematurely. Looking back almost every day on my calendar had a little dot noting an activity, so the November 2022 recap is full – there are over 35 items.
My Christmas in Paris Plan for 2022
For the first time since 2019, Christmas in Paris seems like it’s back to normal. There are tons of people, not as many masks, and decorations are almost everywhere you look. Romain and I are spending our first married Christmas in Paris which will be fabulous, but I also wish I could be in two places at once and back home with my family too. To inject a little extra cheer into the holiday I’ve booked tons of different Christmas activities: some new to me and others are old favorites. I can’t wait to celebrate and of course share my Christmas in Paris plan for 2022.
A Weekend Trip to Normandy
Romain and I jump at any opportunity we get to leave Paris for the weekend. Between Romain starting his new job and my visit to the US we’ve stuck pretty close to home this fall. When Veteran’s Day landed on a Friday we jumped at the opportunity to take a weekend trip to Normandy. This part of Normandy is truly one of my favorite areas in France. It would be a wonderful add-on to a trip to the D-Day landing beaches and memorials, Mont Saint-Michel, or both!
