Evening in Èze: Hotel Cap Estel

A friend recently asked for suggestions of where to go for a weekend trip in France in May, which immediately reminded me of the trip I took to the South of France. I spent the first unforgettable evening in Èze at the Hotel Cap Estel.

This trip was my first ever solo weekend getaway when I was doing a language immersion program in Paris. I have no problem traveling by myself – I did it often for work, but never for leisure before. My only two requirements were a place by the water and easy to get to from Paris. Through my Chase Sapphire Rewards credit card I found two destinations to try for the weekend – Èze and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.

How to Get to Èze from Paris

I flew from Paris to Nice and then drove for 35 minutes for my evening in Èze at Hotel Cap Estel. Words can’t even begin to describe what a dream this hotel is. It feels like being at a private home and is one of the most stunningly gorgeous places I’ve ever seen.

I timed my arrival perfectly to have a glass of rosé by the pool. Truly a pinch me moment. Because I wasn’t super hungry that evening, I had a drink at the bar before heading back to my room.

I picked a room right by the water. The next morning when I woke up, I opened the curtains and felt like I was on a boat deck with beautiful views of Èze. Of course, an espresso on my terrasse was necessary. Afterwards, I enjoyed the incredible breakfast spread overlooking the water.

At the Cap Estel, taking a walk around the hotel grounds is a must. It’s truly an incredible property with layers of views. At the highest point of the property there’s a rose garden overlooking the ocean. I can’t even begin to describe how good it smelled…

Since I travelled alone, I decided to spend the next day and night in a different location to keep it interesting. But to be clear, I could have very easily never left the Cap Estel. It’s the kind of place I hope to return to again and again – truly a slice of heaven on the Côte d’Azur. I’ll never forget my first evening in Èze.
