The worst part about coming to Paris is the travel (unless you live close, of course). I’m luckily not a nervous flyer, but any long-haul flight puts a lot of physical stress on the body. Arriving in Paris is exciting and you want to hit the ground running, but jet lag can get in the way. After going back-and-forth a few times (I had 18 long-haul flights last year), I’ve come up with a list of the best ways to avoid and cure jet lag and arrive in Paris feeling your best.
Unique Restoration Atelier Visit at Musée Yves Saint Laurent
I had the unique opportunity to visit the restoration atelier at the Musée Yves Saint Laurent in Paris. Normally, these special areas aren’t open to the public. It was an incredible experience to learn more about Saint Laurent and his work.
Hôtel de Lauzun: Stunning Hôtel Particulier on l’Île Saint-Louis
Hôtel de Lauzun is one of those mythical places you hear about in Paris – stunning, filled to the brim with history including former residents like Baudelaire, and almost impossible to get into and see. From the outside it looks like just about any other hôtel particulier on Île Saint-Louis, except for the wonderfully ornate dolphin-shaped gutters. But even then, there really isn’t an indication of how spectacular it is inside.
The Best Flowers on Rue du Bac
Rue du Bac is one of my favorite streets in Paris. It’s filled with everything I love about the city from cafés and restaurants to chocolate shops and patisseries, great shopping, and truly so much more. One of my weekly Paris traditions is buying the flowers on Rue du Bac from the best “shop,” Sanjina Fleurs.
Le Saint Germain: A Favorite Paris Café
If I could only ever go to one café in Paris for the rest of my life, I’d pick Le Saint Germain. It ticks all of the boxes – great location, strong coffee, friendly people, and it’s always open. I fell in love with this Left Bank spot on my first trip to Paris. Since then, I’ve become a regular.
