I’ve had Cyril Lignac’s Aux Prés on my list for a while and after trying it last night I’m in love. It has everything I look for in a restaurant – a wonderful menu, a manageable size, friendly staff, a cozy atmosphere, and a great margarita.
I made a reservation a day in advance which was pushing it. Luckily they had space for two at the bar which is where I would’ve wanted to sit anyways. The tables are charming but I loved the light around the bar area.
We arrived early, so we sat and had a drink while we waited for our seats. The manager was very accommodating and brought chairs inside while we waited because it was cold outside.
What We Ordered
We couldn’t narrow down what we wanted to try so we ended up just going for it. I love how the sections of the menu – Crispy & Spicy, Raw, Vegan & Veggie, From the Sea, Market Table, and Sweet. The menu is very traditional French with Asian influences. We tried the seared foie gras, the spicy crispy shrimp, the crispy salmon sushi, the yellowtail, the burrata, the short ribs, and the burger. Looking back on it, we ordered a lot but ended up eating everything. I honestly don’t think I could pick a favorite because it was all so delicious.
Another highlight was talking with the bartender Frank. He made the perfect margarita. That alone is all I needed. But – he went above and beyond and gave us a list of some other great bars in Paris.
I’m already planning a return visit. This is the type of place that’s great for a meal alone, with parents, friends, a date – really any occasion. In addition to Aux Prés, Cyril Lignac’s Le Bar des Prés is just down the street.
