Looking back, I spent a lot of the month of June riddled with anxiety about an 11 hour flight with a newborn and 18 month old. Wiser friends with more parenting and long haul travel with children experience tried to calm me down, to no avail. Luckily the pre-travel anxiety seemed to be punishment enough and the flight itself was shockingly easy. Time will tell if history repeats itself as we have another 11 hour flight in about a week. This time I’m not nervous at all. Otherwise it was a sweet start to summer – read on to discover exactly what I ate and drank, did, and where I shopped in the June 2025 recap.
Where I Ate and Drank in June
- Le Bar des Prés is a favorite sushi spot in Paris. We love sitting at the bar for lunch at the original Saint Germain location. It feels like we often order almost one of everything.
- Yann Couvreur my sweet treat cravings have really diminished since being pregnant, but I couldn’t resist a fraisier from Yann Couvreur when I saw it in the window. Light and refreshing and an absolute must when strawberries are in season.
- I tried a strawberry matcha at Café Nuances. They only do the strawberry matcha in an iced version – I’m more of a hot matcha girl. It was good but definitely sticking with the rose matcha next time.
- We’d been dying to try Le Grand Café which recently opened in the Grand Palais and it didn’t disappoint. The setting is truly incredible and the food was delicious.
- Les Antiquaires of course!
Where I Shopped in June
- Le Bon Marché. I resisted the strong pull of the third floor where all of the baby clothes are and instead we went to the basement to shop for Romain. He found a few new additions for his summer wardrobe before we wandered into La Grande Epicerie which connects directly with the men’s department. I always stock up on my favorite mustard (it has to be au vin blanc or chablis), onion butter, and caviar before any trips back to the US.
- For our 11 hour flight I bought our 18 month old a Yoto Mini. The cards play different stories or albums and there are also blank cards where you can record your own content, which we haven’t done yet. It works with or without headphones and so far is working well as a screen-free travel tool.
- Poissonerie du Bac is probably the most expensive fishmonger in Paris, but the quality is insane. We don’t shop here often because it really is that expensive…but when we do we’re always blown away.
- I bought a phone cord which has been nice for times when I don’t have pockets or need to be more hands free.
- I was gifted a ZIIP Halo and Romain and I have both been loving it. They have an app that it syncs with for different facials and it’s super effective. You can literally see the lifting effects instantly. It’s tiny so easy to pack for traveling too. They gave me code LANDENZIIP for 10% off all products on their website.
What I Did in June
- Cut holes in our windows for air conditioning. We had the first heatwave of the summer in June and it was the best money I’ve ever spent.
- Went to the Balloon Museum exhibit at the Grand Palais. It was truly so much fun for the whole family (besides maybe the newborn!).
- Gave in and turned our “office” into a playroom. I was in charge of the shopping and Romain was in charge of the assembly. We’ve been loving it so far and it’s nice for the boys to have a space that’s theirs.
- Survived the 11 hour flight with babies. VIP Departure Assistance is now a non-negotiable for me. It makes the entire airport experience go so much smoother. Contact me here to book.
