Five Friday Finds from France: September 11th

Five Friday Finds from France featuring La Bouche Rouge, Bistrot de Paris, and Olivier de Sercey cards

I love it when a week seems to fly by and that was the case this week. Getting back to a Paris that’s as filled with life as I’ve seen it since March was for sure a contributing factor. Five Friday Finds from France this week features the best “fancy” masks I’ve seen so far, clean beauty brand La Bouche Rouge, a re-visit to Bistrot de Paris, Olivier de Sercey cards and more!

La Bouche Rouge

I’m so happy to know about La Bouche Rouge, a truly clean beauty brand that you need to have on your radar. They initially created lipsticks with reusable, high quality leather cases and have recently expanded to include leather powder compacts and mascara in glass bottles. They’ve committed to avoid using plastic in both their products and stores, are refillable, have the cleanest possible ingredients, and of course have the excellent “French touch.” I encourage you to read more on their website here.

I think these products would make such a great holiday gift and you can even add a monogram. They can even make custom colors if you’d like to have a clean beauty version of your favorite shade!

Revisiting Bistrot de Paris

For whatever reason, when Romain and I go out to eat we don’t normally go to French restaurants. Last night we decided to go to Bistrot de Paris which just reopened and we had the best experience. I love the classic French bistrot atmosphere, of course, and the food was just perfect. The menu is a little bit smaller than normal which is understandable.

We split the crab and avocado toasts, beef tartare, a steak with béarnaise sauce (couldn’t resist), two kinds of potatoes (for good measure), and finished with the profiteroles. I’ll never forget when my French professor described profiteroles – she simply said the most sinful thing you can eat. I’m going to be thinking about this meal for a while. Maybe the best part of the whole experience was how appreciative they were that we were there. Restaurants are really struggling without the tourists so I’m happy to support them as much as I can. But I think I’ll probably have to make the profiteroles an occasional treat!

Olivier de Sercey Cards

Olivier de Sercey cards

Olivier de Sercey has the most beautiful stationary, business cards, wedding invitations, and cards in general. Yesterday I bought a card for a baptism and noticed these gorgeous cards with Parisian scenes and fell in love with them. I think they’re even pretty enough to frame! I’ve been sending more snail mail than usual this year and I think my next batch will be on these cards.

The Best “Fancy” Sequin Masks

sequin face masks

All of my favorite masks come from Le Rideau de Paris. My skin is sensitive and sometimes the elastic bothers my ears, but these masks are made from the softest fabrics and the elastic doesn’t pull. Yesterday I was thrilled to see that they’re now carrying sequin masks. I think it’s a great idea and a perfect way to elevate a more formal outfit. I’m sure I’ll end up wearing them day and night because I think they’re so fun. The store was closed when I went by yesterday, but I think I’ll start with the neutrals first. I found some similar masks online if you want to give them a try!

Mini-Market Arrangements

Last but not least are these adorable mini arrangements from the Marché Raspail. I wouldn’t normally think to cut pansies and use them for arrangements but these changed my mind. I think they’re so pretty and a group or even one at each place would be such a festive early fall addition to a table!
