The “limited lockdown” from last week quickly escalated into the third national lockdown that will last for at least another month. It’s a tough pill to swallow, again, but hopefully it’ll be the last time. This week’s Five Friday Finds from France features the Vincent Darré x Monoprix collaboration, a Parisian pâtisserie to add to your list, a dreamy Historic Houses of Paris book and more.
Vincent Darré x Monoprix Collaboration
I’m a little late to the party on the Vincent Darré x Monoprix collaboration (because a lot of it is already sold out), but it’s a good one and worth mentioning. Darré is an eccentric, quirky, and chic French interior designer and was Karl Lagerfeld’s assistant and right-hand man for several years. His Monoprix collaboration reminds me of a spring garden party. Of the items that are still available, my favorites include this silk scarf, this notebook, and this mug.
As for the things I missed out on, I love this tray, this fun sun rug, these adorable glasses, these sun plates, and of course this perfect Parisian balcony chair. Next time I’ll be quicker because I don’t want to miss out!
My First Strawberry Basil Margarita
Last week I had my first strawberries of the season and I couldn’t wait to make a strawberry basil margarita. I’ve always been a classic margarita girl, but recently I’ve enjoyed switching things up with seasonal fruits. These flavors reminded me of summer. Plus I think it’s a great way to get in an extra serving of fruit, which never hurt anyone. I’ll share my recipe soon!
Historic Houses of Paris Book
If you’re a fanatic for French interiors like I am, you’ll love Historic Houses of Paris. The book takes you inside 22. drop dead gorgeous private residences of ambassadors that are, bien sûr, generally closed to the public. You can take a look at a few photos here to get an idea.
Romain’s favorite pâtisserie in Paris is Mori Yoshida and last weekend is the first time I’ve ever tried it…because the line is always so long! We still had to wait in line on a Sunday afternoon, but it was worth it. We shared a Tarte au Chocolat and Le M, which is a dark chocolate mousse with a caramelized sugar cream and a hazelnut cookie base. Both were so delicious and I’m dying to go back and try a few other items including the Beige and the Paris-Brest Citron.
Palais Royal Magnolias
I saw the Palais-Royal magnolias just when they were starting to bloom and not again until they were a little past their peak bloom. Next year I’m going to make a bigger effort to spend more time in the garden during magnolia season, it’s just so lovely and really breathtaking. If you’d like to take a spring walk through the Jardin du Palais-Royal, I updated the post yesterday to include photos from this year.
I hope you enjoyed this week’s Five Friday Finds from France. I’ll be back tomorrow with Weekend Links!
