Tomorrow marks the beginning of August in Paris, and it’s a time where most Parisiens head out of the city. Lots of places close. For the entire month. It can be frustrating, but it’s also nice to have the city seemingly empty. I decided to use this month to cross a few things off my “Paris Bucket List.”
For as much time as I’ve spent in Paris, there are still a lot of things that I haven’t done. Like pretty basic things. For example, I’ve never climbed the Eiffel Tower. At this point it’s a little embarrassing.
So I made my list, and I’m going to attempt to get to as many of these places as possible in August. Most places are museums or culture-related, but it is Paris, so there are of course a few food and drink related spots as well.
My plan is to make an “August in Paris Bucket List” Google Map with all of the places and then look at the map to see what makes sense to combine. My list is pretty long already and growing! Hopefully Romain will be able to join me for a few things too. I’m curious to know which of the places on my list he’s been to and where he hasn’t gone yet. Maybe he’ll even have a few places for me to add.
I’ve gotten pretty comfortable with my everyday routine and neighborhood on the Left Bank, so this will be a good way for me to get out and see different parts of the city. It reminds me a little bit of 2012 when I used David Lebovitz’s Paris Pastry app to see and eat my way through the city. Hopefully this time my clothes still fit by the end of the experiment!
Update: You can read about what I ended up doing here.
