March 2026 Recap

• The month started at Les Antiquaires, of course.
• If I’m being completely honest it’s not exactly un plaisir to bring the boys to restaurants right now. They’re just wild and busy and iPad kids aren’t a thing in France (although no judgement because trust me I get it). We made an exception for Grandmother’s Day and brought the boys to Le Voltaire and they were both perfect. Probably because there was a steady stream of warm baguette, butter, and frites.
• The rose matcha from Café Nuances is still my favorite.
• Cody’s Bagels. Their homemade jalapeño cream cheese is a chef’s kiss (and not spicy at all, this is France).
• Paul Chêne Cherche Midi. Just good bistrot food, which honestly is the best. It’s traditional food but not overly heavy and the portions aren’t enormous either so it doesn’t take you out. I had the boudin noir with apples and mashed potatoes which I can rarely resist.
• The Bvlgari Bar has live music on Saturdays so Romain and I love going for a drink. It’s truly a taste of Italy in Paris complete with an Italian aperitivo…it’s maybe a little too authentic because we realized how much we missed being in Italy and ended up booking a trip.

Where I Shopped in March

• In France there’s a Grandmother’s Day which is celebrated on the first Sunday in March. We went to Les Fleurs de Sanji to pick out bouquets for the boys’ grandmother and great-grandmother. We also used UrbanStems to send bouquets to their American grandmother and great-grandmother because they deserved to be celebrated too!
• Living close to La Grande Epicerie is both a blessing and a curse. I usually go in knowing what I need and don’t spend a lot of time browsing. Every time I go I always grab a jar of this tomato sauce. It’s clean and it’s delicious and whenever I need to phone in dinner it’s there for me.
• We got the green light on moving in early March. Our old apartment (that’s currently for sale) was furnished and our current apartment is unfurnished, so we had to very quickly order all of our appliances (stove top included…people move with everything) and couches. We luckily had all of our bedroom furniture already. We sat on so many uncomfortable couches and we were quite literally ready to give up when we stumbled upon a BoConcept. It wasn’t even on our radar but we sat on the first couch we saw in the showroom and loved it. They then told us that they offered a fabric protection plan where for five years they will tell you how to get a stain out. If you can’t get it out they’ll send a professional to clean it. If the professional can’t get the stain out they’ll replace the couch. With two boys (four if we’re counting Romain and Boomer) this was the easiest decision I’ve ever made. They also gave us couches to use while ours were being made which was infinitely better than sitting on the floor. 10/10 recommend.
• We went to Marché Saint Pierre a couple of times to find fabric for curtains and sheers. My cousin helped us immensely and we would’ve been completely lost without his guidance. The second time we went was on a Saturday around 1:00 pm aka when everyone else was at lunch and it was the best time to go. It was so empty that they were even taking the fabric rolls over to the windows to show us what the fabrics would look like with light coming through.
• Romain and I went to the Foire de Chatou to try to find furniture for our apartment. The only issue was Romain had assured me he’d taken measurements of all of the rooms when in fact he just took a photo of a floor plan of the apartment which did not include a single measurement. So we really couldn’t buy anything…but it was so helpful to see things that we both liked. By the September edition we’ll definitely be ready to fill in the gaps!
• My custom Call It By Your Name cabas arrived…I’ve truly never loved a tote more. My favorite feature is the straps don’t slip off of your shoulder which is truly one of my biggest pet peeves.

What I Did in March

• Packed up and moved apartments. That’s definitely one way to force yourself to do spring cleaning. Looking back at the photos of our first few weeks in the new apartment is definitely triggering.
• We broke up the packing/moving/unpacking process with lots of long walks with the boys. We walked to the Champ de Mars and discovered there’s a great, really big playground.
• Right after we moved the kids of course brought pink eye + a virus home from daycare which eventually worked its way through the entire family at different times. They both stayed home from daycare which meant I had to reorganize my schedule and is now I’m starting to realize the origin of feeling like I’m permanently playing catch up.
• Took a Sunday morning walk with the boys to see the pink trees aka cherry blossoms. They were super early this year. If you have the chance to get out on a Sunday (or Saturday honestly) morning before 10 am you’ll feel like you have Paris to yourself.
