Five Friday Finds from France: October 30th

Five Friday Finds from France featuring a pronunciation workshop from Alliance Française

This week was filled with a few plot twists. Namely, France is now back in confinement/lockdown/quarantine until at least December 1st. So there’s that. This week’s Five Friday Finds from France includes a free Zoom pronunciation workshop from Alliance Française, the seven best houseplants according to Vogue Paris, a seriously good Paris coffee shop and restaurant to put on your list and more!

Zoom Pronunciation Workshop from Alliance Française

Alliance Française is having another open house day and is offering a free Zoom pronunciation workshop on November 6th. If you can’t pronounce un chasseur sachant chasser doit savoir chasser sans son chien (like me), this class might be for you. It’s a great way to become familiar with Alliance Française’s online courses and work on your French. You can register here!

As soon as this confinement is over I can’t wait to get back to Papilles Coffeehouse and Restaurant. It’s such a light, bright and happy space (the menu is tie dye) and the coffee is absolutely divine. It’s also laptop friendly which is a definite bonus for me. If you’re looking for something different from a typical Parisian café or restaurant to try out add it to your list!

The Best Chili Recipe

the best damn chili recipe

I had a go-to chili recipe and then lost it, but I found a new one and had to share. Don’t let the number of ingredients overwhelm you – it’s really easy to make and the flavors are incredible, and they only get better the day after. I think chili will be a go-to confinement food because it’s not only comforting but sometimes it’s nice to have leftovers and freezer-friendly options.

Here’s all you need to know about interior plants: “They’re capable of absorbing carbon dioxide, reducing stress, and are aesthetically pleasing and soothing. Indoor plants, without a doubt, are good allies during the period of confinement.” I’m ready to turn my apartment into a greenhouse, although I do need to save room for a Christmas tree. In this article, Vogue Paris lists seven beautiful interior plants and why you need them in your home.

The Neuilly Market

Coquilles Saint-Jacques at the Neuilly marché

I love shopping at open air markets and it’s always fun to discover a new one. On Wednesday I went to the Marché des Sablons in Neuilly and had so much fun seeing all of the different vendors and fall produce. I’m dying to get some Coquilles Saint-Jacques and try Ina Garten’s recipe from her Make It Ahead cookbook. Stay tuned!

I hope you enjoyed this week’s Five Friday Finds from France. Let me know if you sign up for the pronunciation workshop from Alliance Française. I’ll be back tomorrow with Weekend Links!
