Five Friday Finds from France: February 26th

Happy Friday from Paris. I know quite a lot of people, myself included, are experiencing pandemic fatigue/burnout right now. Getting through another week continues to feel like an accomplishment. This week’s Five Friday Finds from France features Devotions Café, a sweet Montmartre spot to put on your Paris list, a special offer from Caudalie’s new Resveratrol line, a cappuccino tart and more!

Devotions Café

Using “good vibes” to describe a place is overdone, but applicable in this case. From the second you walk into Devotions Café you can feel the good energy. This relatively new spot is light and bright, the coffee is wonderful and the food looks delicious. What more could you want from a coffee shop? If you’re in Montmartre definitely check out Devotions Café.

XP 16 Asian Épicerie

Just down the street from Devotions Café is XP 16, a hidden treasure as far as I’m concerned. It’s a great Asian épicerie – not nearly as large as the well-known K-Mart but they have a great selection of items. After almost three years of living in Paris I was thrilled to find actual garlic powder and not just garlic flakes. The best part about XP 16 is for sure the prices – they’re so good you might even forget you’re in Paris.

Caudalie Resveratrol Special Offer

There’s currently a special offer in France for Caudalie’s Resveratrol line, which luckily for me coincided with running out of my Resveratrol-Lift Firming Night Cream. It’s the first product I’ve used since Caudalie introduced the new formula and I’m hooked. Caudalie has an exclusive patent on the Resveratrol + hyaluronic acid + vegan collagen alternative combination. It really does visibly firm your skin, smells amazing and is non-irritating – great for sensitive skin like mine.

I’ve been using the Vinosource S.O.S. Thirst-Quenching Serum but decided to switch to the Resveratrol-Lift Instant Firming Serum after learning that it’s two times more effective than retinol at the serum concentration. Since I bought two products from the Resveratrol line, I got two free mini daytime Resveratrol-Lift Cashmere Creams to try. I’m so excited and can’t wait to report back!

Also – anytime you buy Caudalie products make sure to register the unique codes inside the boxes on their website. The points really add up and you can get great free products.

Eric Kayser Cappuccino Tart

I love an afternoon cappuccino but haven’t had one in a while because a to-go cappuccino doesn’t quite have the same allure. When I saw the Cappuccino Tart at Eric Kayser it immediately called my name. The base is a shortbread chocolate dough topped with a creamy coffee-flavored praline and topped with mascarpone whipped cream and a coffee bean cookie. 10/10 would recommend.

Daffodils in Paris

Spring really is coming, and I can’t tell you how exciting it is to see daffodils popping up around town. Daffodils always remind me of the poem that I failed to memorize and recite in 7th grade, “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud” by William Wordsworth. I didn’t appreciate the poem then, but I do now and want to share it:

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
