With the holidays rapidly approaching I’m spending a lot of time enjoying the festive atmosphere around Paris…and also trying to finish up holiday shopping. I love finding everyone something unique from Paris and this year both Romain and I are buying exclusively from small businesses. I know it’s not always possible to shop small when you’re looking for something specific, but I’ve been keeping my eyes out for options to share. This week’s Five Friday Finds from France features a set for a Champagne lover, personalized gifts from Marin Montagut, the Paris Museums card and more.
Fashion Eye Paris by Melvin Sokolsky Book
I collect the Louis Vuitton Fashion Eye books. I think they’re a great travel series whether you buy books with places you’ve been, places you want to go or both – and the photos are so much fun. There’s a new Paris book in the series that features Melvin Sokolsky’s photographs of models floating around in transparent spheres. Harper’s Bazaar commissioned Sokolsky to take the photos of the spring collections in 1962. This Paris book is a great mix of Paris and fashion!
Personalized Marin Montagut Gifts
Marin Montagut wins my top pick for a gift idea this year with all of his fabulous personalization options. You can personalize a mouth-blown and hand-painted glass (my favorites are the French flags and Luxembourg chairs), create a glass with a favorite street (in Paris or anywhere!), or a true love secret book among other things. Honestly…the cutest idea ever and you still have time to order and get things before the holidays. I’m really tempted to order everything for myself…but I’ll wait until at least January!
Champagne Boxed Book and Map Set
This Champagne boxed book and map set really ticks a lot of boxes: it’s an extensive guide to different wines, it comes with vintage maps that are pretty enough to be framed, and it’s beautiful to display. You could give it with a bottle of Champagne or even as a surprise to announce a future trip to Champagne (which I would be happy to help you plan).
Librarie Galignani Christmas Catalogue
One of the best bookstores in Paris is Librarie Galgnani on Rue de Rivoli. They always have an excellent selection of books in both English and French. If you’re in Paris I highly recommend a visit. Galgnani’s 2021 Christmas Catalogue is filled with wonderful book ideas. The upcoming Paris: Capital of Guerlain title caught my eye. If you’re in Paris you can click and collect, otherwise a lot of the titles are available online.
Paris Museums Card
If you know someone planning to go to more than three museums in Paris next year, the Paris Musées Pass would be a great gift. With the pass you have unlimited access to all City of Paris museums and exhibits. The pass is 40€ for an individual or 60€ for a duo – great for a couple or bringing a friend along.
