A Walk Around the Musée du Louvre

Usually this is a “A Walk Through” series, however right now that isn’t possible. So today we’re going to take a walk around the exterior of the Musée du Louvre. I walked by on two different days which proves that the emptiness wasn’t just a fluke…it’s actually what Paris looks like right now.

I didn’t plan to take these people-free photos. Both times I was actually just on my way to Café Kistuné to get an afternoon coffee. I expected to see more people out and moving around because the weather is gorgeous and it’s Paris. It’s never empty anywhere around the Louvre, and especially not on a Tuesday afternoon in May.

Like me, the people walking by stopped to take photos. How could you not? It’s like being inside a photoshopped postcard. Or in the Beyoncé and Jay-Z music video at the Louvre, but during the day (as a side note, you can take an official Beyoncé and Jay-Z at the Louvre tour).

Every time I walk by during normal conditions I notice a different architectural detail. With the absence of people and cars the details are amplified. Right now Paris is breathtakingly beautiful and the Musée du Louvre is the pièce de résistance, in my opinion anyways.

There are barriers and security personnel in front of the Pyramid and the gates are closed to the Cour Carrée (here’s a good map of the exterior) so I took the photos with those limitations.
