Although it feels like we just moved, we’re moving again – later this week! I’m excited, but it’s of course bittersweet leaving an apartment that we absolutely adore. It’s the apartment that we brought both of our babies home to and it’s perfect in a lot of ways. But unfortunately the owner wants to sell. This will be our first Paris apartment as a family that’s non-meublé, which means we get to have (and get to purchase!) all of our own furniture and appliances.
Even after we moved I never deactivated the Jinka alerts for apartments because you just never know. We originally saw our new apartment listed in February 2025. I was very intrigued, but they wouldn’t let us even visit without sending our full dossier (rental file). I was within two months of having our second baby and said forget it, they’re going to be too strict. It would’ve been a lot to move within a month of giving birth (we moved two months before the first baby and it wasn’t easy).
A few months later we found out that the owner was selling our apartment. He gave us 13 months notice which is very generous but we immediately started taking the search seriously. We visited some duds…but still had to consider them. The pressure of having to move by a certain date plus needing to be close to schools, the Tuileries for Boomer, and also just wanting to stay in our neighborhood is a lot.
