August 2025 Recap

• Les Antiquaires. I recently told a friend that when I’m not in Paris one of the things I miss most is the coffee at Les Antiquaires…
• Le Jardin at Ducasse Baccarat. Baccarat barware makes me absolutely weak. I’m obsessed with the Harmonie Tumblers in general, and the new Pastel Harmonie Tumblers absolutely kill me. At Le Jardin, all of the barware and tableware is of course Baccarat which makes it so special. We shared a tuna carpaccio, ham and cheese pasta with truffles, steak with béarnaise sauce, a paprika yogurt chicken and tons of sides. Everything was very good and the atmosphere was so relaxing – it’s almost like being in someone’s gorgeous backyard in Paris. The garden is in progress and next year it should be big enough that they’ll be able to use products straight from the garden. Definitely a summer in Paris must!
• If you’re looking for sushi in Paris in August…good luck. Most places are either completely closed or close after the first weekend in August. We went to Jun right before it closed. The menu was a bit limited because they were closing, so I definitely want to go back again and try the full experience.
• L’Arrêt had their soft opening in August and we loved going in for breakfast and lunch a few times. They are very nice and the food is good as well. I can tell it will be a little piece of the US in France when I’m looking for it.
• Dame Gourmande in Granville. I’m obsessed with their homemade brunch.
• Rose Café in Granville. They specialize in rose flavored drinks. I love rose flavored anything so obviously a good place for me. After trying a rose espresso and rose matcha I definitely prefer the matcha.
• Romain and I left the babies at home two times for date night at Le Chalet des Dunes in Carolles. The view of the sunset is the best.
• Base Coffee on Rue du Dragon. I went on opening day – it was okay. I’ll give them another shot but there are definitely better options for coffee in the area.
• Aux Prés is a forever favorite restaurant. Romain and I sat at the bar and shared everything.

Where I Shopped in August

• Chantelivre is an amazing bookstore on Rue de Sèvres. The kids section is especially fun because I’ve found some of my favorite books in English in French. It would be a great place to find a fun French gift for a child and easy to pack as well.
• My favorite Marché de Jullouville. We spent a long weekend in Normandy and I made sure we arrived on Thursday so I could shop the Friday market. They still had fresh strawberries and raspberries which were such a treat. We also found beautiful sole that Romain made with his grandmother’s sauce.
• Whenever I need a baby gift Jacadi is my first stop. The clothes are cute and practical.
• Le Bon Marché is my favorite for shopping because you can knock everything out at once. We spent a lot of time in the shoe, book, and kids department. Favorite finds included the most adorable Bonton slippers for boys and girls (I have a similar pair that I’m obsessed with and are so comfortable even for walking in Paris) and the Claris: The Chicest Mouse in Paris book – a perfect gift!

What I Did in August

• Started cooking regularly again. It took a while to get back into a routine between travel and two babies. I rarely follow recipes, but I’ve loved following Rachael’s Good Eats on Instagram for easy, nutrient-dense and freezer-friendly recipes for the whole family.
• Went to the Tuileries a lot. Between the carrousel, playground and trampoline area it’s a great option for kids. A bonus is it’s very shaded so you can stay pretty cool on warmer days.
• Fondation Louis Vuitton has great family programming in both English and French. We went to a kids atelier to see the David Hockney exhibit (which is now finished). We had several of the rooms to ourselves which was incredible as my biggest complaint with FLV is how packed the rooms get. It was such a nice way to experience the exhibit.
• La Maison des Histoires is a fun place for kids to play and they also have an interactive story time. It’s in French, but I still think it would be fun for any kids under the age of three (they have specific sessions). Tickets are required and they sell out so definitely buy them in advance.
