I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m feeling pretty anxious about the coming week. With COVID-19 number rapidly rising everywhere, the upcoming US elections and President Macron speaking tonight to address a potential re-confinement…it’s just a lot. I thought it might be nice today to take a leisurely walk through the Jardin du Luxembourg in the fall. And since it is fall and the chances of needing to warm up are higher, I’m including where to eat and drink near the Jardin du Luxembourg.
Several Sundays this month I’ve found myself wandering through the Jardin du Luxembourg. It’s just a Sunday kind of spot, isn’t it? It amazes me how quickly the colors of the leaves intensified and also started dropping to the ground. Fall in Paris is so magical but also so fleeting. I’m trying to enjoy the colors as much as I can (as I’m sure you’ve noticed on Instagram).
One of my first vivid memories of the Jardin du Luxembourg was in Fall 2012 when I studied abroad. I’ll never forget how taken aback I was by the Fontaine de Medicis. It’s being renovated right now, but next year I’ll look forward to seeing it in its full fall glory.
While the leaves will soon be gone, something I really love about France is that the grass stays green throughout the winter. No matter how grey and dreary it gets, there’s always a pop of color. And of course, the beloved green chairs are always there. Just a little brightness to keep us going through the winter!
Where to Eat and Drink Near the Jardin du Luxembourg
There are plenty of spots where you can eat and drink near the Jardin du Luxembourg, but I wanted to share a few of my favorites that are just perfect for fall.
Treize au Jardin
For a Southern inspired brunch or lunch I like Treize au Jardin. The Southern Lunch Plate is a delicious sample of some of their specialties – pulled pork and fried chicken. Next time I go I’m definitely going to try the Eggs Benedict served on top of a biscuit. There’s a good chance a walk through the Jardin du Luxembourg will be necessary after a meal at Treize.
La Terrasse de Madame
If the weather is lovely and you want to be outside for a bite to eat or a coffee try La Terrasse de Madame. It’s centrally located and the views are just to die for.
Mademoiselle Angelina
If it’s really cold and only the best hot chocolate in Paris will do, there’s a Mademoiselle Angelina just next to the Musée du Luxembourg. I really love this smaller, more causal outpost and the hot chocolate is as delicious as ever.

A Walk Through the Jardin du Luxembourg in the Fall
I’m not sure that Sunday walks through the Jardin du Luxembourg will be possible in the coming weeks (we’ll see after Macron speaks tonight), but I’ll look forward to another as soon as it’s possible.
