Between renewing my titre de séjour (French residency card) and preparing for a potentially impending third lockdown, this week was busier than I expected. I’m very much looking forward to a quiet weekend at home (with Dalton 😊). This week’s Five Friday Finds from France include an upcoming Damien Hirst exhibit titled Cherry Blossoms that I’m already dying to see, my current favorite seasonal margarita recipe, a fabulous French cooking experience with my friend Véronique of Cuisine Elégante and more!
French Cooking with Cuisine Elégante
If you’re a foodie, you absolutely must book a cooking experience with Véronique of Cuisine Elégante the next time you’re in Paris. I had the pleasure of attending a small lunch at Véronique’s beautiful apartment last week and can’t stop thinking about how much fun it was. Not only is Véronique a talented and creative chef, but she also has the most infectious positive energy.
Her cooking experiences are truly immersions into French cooking and l’art de vivre. You can view Véronique’s offerings here – you really can’t go wrong with whatever you choose. She’s even offering virtual cooking classes for those who can’t get to Paris right now.
Petite Pâtisserie: 180 Recipes for Elegant French Treats
On the subject of French cooking, someone shared this Petite Pâtisserie cookbook on Facebook this week and it looks fabulous. I love the beautiful photography and there’s something about how the recipes are laid out that makes them seem very approachable. The authors are former pastry chefs at the Hôtel de Crillon and Le Meurice, and currently co-own a pastry shop in Alsace, which I can’t wait to try someday!
A Walk Through Paris Print Collection
For those missing Paris, Brittany Bouyer just launched her ‘A Walk Through Paris’ collection. The lovely group of prints showcases both Parisian monuments and scenes from everyday life. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I think mine is the print with the pink peonies. These prints are a wonderful way to bring a little bit of Paris to you right now!
My Favorite Blood Orange Margarita
It’s officially blood orange season and there is nothing better than a margarita with a blood orange topper. Nothing. My mom introduced me to the blood orange margarita and it automatically became a seasonal favorite. Blood oranges are a little sweeter than regular oranges and are the perfect complement to the tart lime juice. I usually just add a little at the end instead of mixing everything together because it’s a good way to gauge the level of sweetness!
Damien Hirst’s Cherry Blossoms Exhibit in Paris
This June, Damien Hirst will unveil his latest paintings in France in an exhibition titled Cherry Blossoms. The exhibit will be held at the Fondation Cartier and is set to open June 1st (pending the Fondation’s reopening date). It was originally scheduled for last year and luckily was just postponed it rather than cancelled. I’m crazy about cherry blossoms and can’t wait to get up close to the paintings.
I hope you enjoyed this week’s Five Friday Finds from France. I’ll be back tomorrow with Weekend Links!
