Five Friday Finds from France: February 12th

flowers in neuilly-sur-seine

Last week I wrote that it felt like spring was just around the corner. This week it’s been very cold and it snowed, pretty typical. While it was so pretty I’m ready for it to warm up a bit. This week’s Five Friday Finds from France features a gorgeous flower “wall” display at the market, a great Italian café, Valentine’s Day at Monoprix and more!

A Carousels of Paris Giveaway

For all lovers of the fabulous carousels in Paris there’s a special Valentine’s Day giveaway that you won’t want to miss. Kay Barley’s Carousels of Paris contains both beautiful photos and the fascinating history of carousels in Paris. Dorie Greenspan recently praised the book, saying:

Carousels are an unexpected pleasure in Paris, a sight you come upon on a random stroll, see in a small park you hadn’t visited before or find in a plaza strung with holiday lights. Some are permanent, some ephemeral, all magical. Merci to Kaye Barley for creating this book and giving us all the chance to be charmed by these Parisian delights daily.

For a chance to win a copy of Carousels of Paris, simply send an email here with your mailing address before February 14th. To read more about the book, click here.

Valentine’s Day at Monoprix

I’m always impressed with the seasonal decorations at Monoprix and Valentine’s Day is no exception. At the Neuilly location they have a table of rotating Valentine’s Day items, including adorable heart-shaped tea candles, mugs with hearts on them (that remind me of these from Le Creuset that are sold out), and, bien sûr, a little Veuve Clicquot Rosé Champagne. I definitely recommend stopping in a Monoprix when in France, you can find some really cute things!

Skiing in Montmartre

When I was checking out the snow in Montmartre this week I happened to be in the right place at exactly the right time to watch someone attempt to ski. Down concrete. Probably not the smartest idea, but very entertaining to watch.

Corso: An Italian Café in Paris

I’ve really been enjoying a morning coffee at Corso, an Italian café with several locations in Paris. It currently feels like a mini Italian market with a different selection of mouth-watering baked goods every day, seasonal produce, dried pastas and more. I can’t wait until cafés reopen again – I’ll definitely be going to the Quai de Seine location.

The Prettiest Flower “Wall” Market Display

I’ll leave you with this absolutely gorgeous flower “wall” market display at the Marché des Sablons in Neuilly. It took my breath away and is such a pretty and different way to display flowers.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s Five Friday Finds from France. I’ll be back tomorrow with Weekend Links!

  1. Thanks for brightening my day here in Texas. We are unusually cold and iced in, so the flower pictures were quite a delight. 🙂
