Christmas in Paris: My Favorite Decorations 2020

christmas decorations in paris 2020

Someone asked me to do a post on my favorite places to see Christmas decorations in Paris this year. I have no idea where to start…is everywhere an answer? I haven’t seen it all yet so my list will likely expand, but here are my favorite Paris Christmas decorations in 2020!

My Favorite Christmas Decorations in Paris 2020

I’m really enjoying the Christmas decorations in Paris this year. First, it feels like such a reward at the end of this truly bizarre 2020. But also, many of the decorations are different from years past and seem to be popping up in new spots as well which is fun.

Place Vendôme

Let’s start with a favorite of the favorites. I look forward to the decorations in Place Vendôme year after year. The Christmas trees are always simple and classic – a perfect fit with the elegant backdrop. This year instead of several groups of trees in the middle of Place Vendôme, they line the perimeter of the square. Which means there are plenty of blue doors and Christmas trees everywhere – just about my favorite thing in the world!

Ralph Lauren Boulevard Saint-Germain

If you haven’t visited the Ralph Lauren store on Boulevard Saint-Germain I highly recommend it no matter what time of year it is. Their restaurant Ralph’s is set in the most beautiful garden courtyard and it’s just magical. This year they have a Ralph’s truck parked in the front where you can pick up hot beverages to-go as well as American sweet treats like apple pie. Make sure to look at the bears dressed to the nines in their Ralph Lauren attire, complete with festive skirts.

Place Dauphine

I don’t remember seeing trees in Place Dauphine before so I was so happy to discover a group of them. The trees are strictly red and gold with bows and ornaments. Another great example of simple yet stunning decor – you don’t need much when Paris is the background.

Florists

Another wonderful place to take in the Christmas decorations in Paris is by walking by florists. Many have beautiful miniature Christmas trees and stunning wreaths of all kinds. This particular shop on the Left Bank has the most incredible wreaths. Each florist is different but I always look forward to their sidewalk displays.

Galerie Vivienne

Galerie Vivienne’s Christmas decorations have been the same since I can remember and I hope they never change. There’s just something about the warm lights dropping down along the walls that is so welcoming. It glows all day and night and begs you to walk in and browse.

Ladurée Bonaparte

All Ladurée shops are beautiful for the holidays – it’s a guarantee every year. But the shop that stands out above all of the rest for me is Ladurée on Rue Bonaparte. The corner location is just iconic. And it’s always nice to know that after you take in the Christmas cheer you can have a little something sweet as well!

Place de la Concorde

This year the city of Paris decorated Place de la Concorde around the obelisk. There’s a little “forest” of Christmas trees plain and flocked. It’s whimsical and it smells divine. I need to go back soon and look at the illuminations at night!

Galeries Lafayette

Galeries Lafayette is one you can’t miss when it comes to Christmas decorations in Paris. It might be “touristy” but that doesn’t make it any less magical. The tree this year is so happy and cheerful – pictures really don’t do it justice. I highly recommend going to take a look if you’re in Paris.

Jardin du Palais-Royal

In the past tree’s have lined the perimeter of the Jardin du Palais-Royal. This year there are four groups of trees on each of the corners of the garden. I don’t want to call it more simple and laid back (because nothing about Christmas in Paris is really ever simple) but it’s a welcome change for this year.

Rue Saint-Honoré

Last but not least, you can’t miss the Christmas decorations on Rue Saint-Honoré. From the illuminated garland and wreaths that line the streets to the elaborate decorations of the boutiques it’s just so good. This year Chanel and Dior have some of biggest displays with an illuminated hot air balloon in the middle. Another spot not to miss!

More Christmas Decorations to See in Paris in 2020

High on my list to revisit is Avenue Montaigne. The trees have been among my favorite since I first studied abroad in 2012. I’m also dying to explore Montmartre, Le Marais, and near the Champs-Élysées. I post a lot of in the moment Christmas in Paris content on Instagram, so be sure to follow along there as well.

I’d love to know which of the decorations are your favorites in 2020 – or if I’m missing some that you’ve especially enjoyed in years past. For more Christmas in Paris, click here.
